Migrate an existing Wordpress blog to a newly developed Webflow website

An existing blog based on WordPress should be completely moved to Webflow — including all existing posts, categories and tags. The old site was technically overloaded, maintenance-intensive and difficult to maintain. The goal was a modern, low-maintenance website with a clear structure and a long-lasting CMS setup that could manage future contributions just as cleanly as existing content.

Lösung
First, a new page structure including a CMS model was designed, which clearly displays both blog posts as well as categories and tags. The website was then designed and built in Webflow — with a focus on design, performance and editorial simplicity.
For data migration, we developed our own Python scripts to bring the old WordPress data — including multi-references such as categories and tags — into a WebFlow-compatible format. The attribution between posts, categories and keywords was completely retained.
Particular attention was paid to the technical implementation of the multi-reference fields in order to ensure the smoothest possible editorial work after the move — without manual maintenance.
Ergebnis
The new blog website now runs entirely on Webflow: without plugins, without security concerns and without the usual update stress of WordPress. The content from the old blog was transferred without loss, including all metadata. Thanks to CDN hosting and an optimized structure, the site is significantly faster and more flexible than before. Editorial work is now easier and more error-free — with a clear separation of content and layout.
